This slip-up isn't a big deal, just kind of funny. In the scene where Vivian (Julia Roberts) comes to Edward's (Richard Gere) hotel for the first time, they go to the elevator to get to his room. There is a classy couple standing and waiting for the elevator. Edward walks to the elevator and pushes the "up" button to call the elevator. After he pushes it, the button lights up. That means that since the button was unlit, nobody had called the elevator yet, and those two people were just standing there for no reason!
