In the hole of the ship, during the first dramatic showdown in the movie, Nicholas Cage lights a flare to ward of the men who have turned on him to discover the treasure. To escape Cage throws the flare at the villan who catches it before it hits the ground and ignites the gunpowder. NOTICE: when the flare explodes and ignites the sleeve of the villian's parka the flame shoots up his arm. The scene cuts to another angle where the villian drops the flare in slo-motion, only this time his sleeve is not ablaze.
