Dead Zone, The (Stephen King) - Small Boy at Stillson Rally
In chapter 27-5 a young woman brings her son into the hall to see Greg Stillson. The child starts kicking the seat and she says "Sean, stop that", yet when Stillson grabs the boy as a human shield, she calls him Tommy!
Actually, the boy's name is Jonny, not Tommy. But I see what you mean. It is a bit strange.

Actually, when the mother and little boy first come into the hall, the mother calls him Sean, and either tells him to be quiet, or quit whining--I forget which. Then when Stillson grabs the boy, the mother screams, "Tommy!" Then in the epilogue, when the young photographer is testifying about getting the picture of Stillson using the boy as a human shield, *he* refers to the boy as "Matthew Robeson."
