During the scene when the aliens are first coming up from the ground and everone begins to run away, there is a man with a camcorder taping the incident, the camera is dropped and you can watch a bit of the scene through his camera. The thing is, after the lightning storm nothing was working, watches, lights, cars, so how is his video camera still able to operate.

In this same scene you can also see a man with a camera taking pictures, the camera shouldn't have been working either.
