Just before the aliens blow up New York City, you'll see a wonderful shot of people in the street looking dead center at the Empire State Building. Great, except for one thing; there's no street in the city where you can see that view.
Later on, just after the screen card "July 3" fades out, there's a shot of the devastated city, looking north from the harbor. The Statue of Liberty is lying face down in the water on the right hand side of the screen. The problem here is that the Statue's on the wrong side of the harbor. From the angle, the only place that shot could be seen from is off the Brooklyn shore, but the Statue is on the New Jersey side of the city. Since the blast radiates out from the center, there's no way the explosion could have blown the Statue to the Brooklyn shore. Did anyone from the production staff bother to visit the Big Apple?
