Go to the part of the movie where Wolverine a.k.a. Logan gets back to the mutant school. When Storm and Jean greet him, they say Professor X is sending them to Boston. Shortly afterwards, Wolverine goes to see the Professor, who says he's trying to locate the mutant who attacked the President (Nightcrawler). When he finds him, Professor X tells Storm and Jean the mutant is in Boston. The mistake is that Storm and Jean don't know where the mutant is yet and therefore can't tell Wolverine upon his return where they have to go. They should only be able to tell Wolverine where they're going after Nightcrawler has been located.
