In the preasure episode when sandy tries to prove she could live under water without her suit or helmet. When one of her lungs collapsed after holding her breath for too long, she goes to find some thing to breath in. She finds a pickle jar to put her head in, but that would filled with water too. Also she could never fit her head in the little hole of the pickle jar.
on one point you are right, the pickle jar would be full of water, for the head part, it's a cartoon, they do those things to make it funny, cartoons aren't realistic if you haven't noticed.
