Even tought he was a very good president, I don't think Mr. Lincoln was a psychic! Therefore, this is not a slip-up. Ironic, yes, but not a slip-up.

Lincoln uses the pronoun "we" because he was not the only speaker at Gettysburg. Edward Everett gave the Oration and Lincoln made the Dedicatory Remarks. Everett's speech lasted two hours, but no one today remembers him, much less his address at Gettysburg.
