Desert Rats, The - Rubber Bayonets
Old war movies are full of mistakes but this one has a particularly funny part. At 24:48 of the movie there is a hilarious scene where you can see a flimsy rubber bayonet on a German rifle flopping around on the ground and in the air. In the part where Rommel's German infantry are attacking Australian machine gun positions there is a scene when the German's are crashing through the barbed wire in front of an Aussie MG nest. There are two Germans that throw their hands and rifles up in the air and fall on the barbed wire, then a German jumps into the machine gun pit and an Aussie hits him with an ammo box and they fight. In the next scene another German falls on the barbed wire and you can see the bayonet bending and flopping around excessively as the rifle is flailed on the ground and through the air. You can see it clearly without slowing it down, but if you do the pause and frame advance you can see just how much bend this "German steel" really has to it.
