Sherlock Holmes Stories - Grant or Jack?
In "The Yellow Face" Grant Munro's wife doesn't know her own husband's name! When she asks him to lend her a hundred pounds, she calls him Jack, not Grant! (And he lends her the money anyway! Maybe he was too shocked by her asking for the money, so he didn't even notice!)

This is not a slip-up! "Jack" is obviously Mr Grant Munro's wife's nickname for Grant! Later on in the story, "Mr Grant Munro" is used again... the only time "Jack" is ever used is when Effie (his wife) is talking to him.
