When Ash (the android) goes mental and starts to beat Ripley and Parker around the room, if you watch carefully, just before Parker knocks off Ash's head, you can see the switch from actor to dummy.
no. i believe you are mistaken. i've watched the movie many many times, and i am sure they knocked the dude's head off. that wasn't a dummy. it was a real live android they used to film the movie, and when they were done, they killed it, by knocking its head off.
pay more attention.
Yes, they did change from a real actor to a dummy. I know this because I've seen the same ACTOR in several movies later on. They did NOT kill him to make the shot perfect, and I'm pretty sure the actor is very happy about this...
LOL. Thank you Spyke for being the voice of reason. I cant believe some people didnt see Dominic's response for what it was. The only thing sillier than that was preddys posting that scene as a "slip-up" to begin with. I guess some people dont realize that before digital special fx took over the industry we had to settle for cutting from actor to dummy to simulate decapitations. Because, YES - Lance Henricksons career may have been hindered were he to have lost his head (Even if it were for such a good cause).
Ouch! You're right Gator. I blew that one big time. I WAS thinking about Aliens not Alien. It was Ian Holm that played Ash (Note: He will be playing Bilbo Baggins in the upcoming Lord of the Rings movies). Thanks for not beating me up to bad for an honest mistake.
This film was made in 1979! It had a small budget which fans who have heard the DVD commentary by Ridley Scott will understand with some of the cost cutting measures they used being given. this is not a slip up because any other way of doing this was unavailable.
