Fred Sanford is sitting on a stool painting nail polish on the elephant which he was borrowing as temporary rent payment. He was entering the elephant in his circus and when it was held the nail polish was gone.
Fred only painted the elephants front left toes green, not all of them. The elephant is seen only one more time in episode, and shown with just left toes painted. There is not a slip-up .
