Mean Girls - Jeans on Fridays and Ponytails Once a Week Only
When Cady sits with the Plastics for the first time, Karen tells her that they wear pink on Wednesdays. On Wednesday, Cady shows up with a pink shirt and Gretchen is explaining to Cady all the rules. Two of them that she mentions are: 1) We only wear jeans on Fridays and 2) We only wear our hair in a ponytail once a week. Cady's outfit breaks both these rules! One, she is wearing jeans on Wednesday and second, she wore her hair in a ponytail the day before, which means that it was in the same week! CADY HOW COULD YOU!!

Accually Cady only broke one of the rules. She didnt find out about the Jeans or Track Pants rule ON WEDNSDAY. So she didnt know until they told her. Its totally not her fault but she did break the pony tail rule.

But if Gretchen was explaining those rules while Cady was wearing said rule-flaunting outfit, surely Cady would not have known the rules when she was getting dressed that morning? Haven't actually seen the movie, but from your explanation....

actually she doesn't tell Cady about the ponytail thing until the same day she tells her the rest of the rules. when they tell her about the shirt, the girl simply says "oh, on wednesday's we wear pink!"

I haven't seen this film for ages so I could be wrong, but yes, Gretchen says, "We only wear our hair in a ponytail once a week." Cady has her hair in a ponytail that day. Gretchen says, "So I guess you picked today." Surely you didn't all miss that?

If you remember by the end of the movie when Regina starts to put on weight and has to wear tracksuit pants she says that these rules aren't real. This kind of gives you the impression that the rules did not matter to much throughout the movie

Cady technically didn't break any rules because she didn't find out about either rule until Wednesday where she wore pink. They didn't explain any other rules to her before then.
