In the scene where Harry and Marv are going to slide down the rope so they don't have to go back through the booby traps Kevin set in the house, Marv goes over the side of the roof first. But when Harry grabs the rope and climbs over the side, there is enough slack in the rope to allow him to get his hands between it and the building. Marv (and his weight) obviously weren't pulling it down.
