At the opening of the commercial where they are playing "Nowhere to Run to," there are some lobsters creeping along the ocean floor. If you visit any Red Lobster restaurant, you can see for yourself that live lobsters are green, not red. They become red when you cook them.
They also made this same mistake (whether intentional or not) in the recent commercial that has a couple of lobsters begging the audience to order steaks.
Actually, the lobsters that are walking along the ocean (presumably) floor are not your regular Maine lobsters. They are actually Rock Lobsters (It's not just a song!). Rock lobsters usually have a very spiny body and they are red while alive, not the dark grey-green a Maine lobster would be.
It's an ad, remember? Their name is Red Lobster; therefore, they show red lobster's to help people with the association. Why would they show a green lobster, when their name is Red Lobster? Plus red lobsters are better looking than green ones.
OK ppl I work at Red Lobster and I want to clear up a few things: First of all, lobsters are NOT red when they are alive, they are a greenish-blue and second, they have red lobsters along the floor because it is called RED Lobster so most ppl would like to see that in the commercial~it looks a little more appetizing also.
Different lobsters are different colors when they are alive. Some are red, and some are bluish green. I don't know what color the lobsters are that are used at Red Lobster, but even if they are bluish green, they would never show that on a commercial because most people would get confused.
Like some people said before, the place is called RED LOBSTER. It would kind of contradict itself if it was a RED LOBSTER commercial and they had a bunch of green lobsters running around.
