When Max calls Annie to warn her that Vincent is trying to kill her, she tells him that she is on the 16th floor. Later, when Vincent looks at the phone line light, it says the phone is being used on the 15th floor.
this is NOT a slip-up.he never tells her what floor shes on, she tells her what floor VINCENT is on, hes on the 16th floor cus thats where annies office is, but we all know annie wasn't in her office, she was in another office, why? we dont know... but she was on the 15th floor, vincent looks at the phone and finds out shes on the 15th floor and goes after her, not a slip-up but a nice try!
The light on the phone wasn't for what floor she was on it was for phoneline 15 then next to it it said which room the line was in.(I think it said book room or file room or something along that line).
Three different viewers and three totally inaccurate recollections!
Here are the lines, word for word.
Max: "Listen...Where are you right now, what floor?"
Annie: "I'm on the 16th floor. I'm in the Law Library and Files."
Max: "He's two floors below you, corner office."
Annie: "In my office?"
Max: "Listen, he does not know you're up there. Just stay right there and call 911."
Annie: "Max, are you sure he's on the 14th floor".
Max: "Listen, just stay there and just call the police. Just call the police."
(The film shows Vincent in the corner office at the desk exactly two floors below and to the left of the office where Annie is standing against the wall. We just heard her say that she's on the 16th floor, so if Vincent is two floors below... we can conclude that he's indeed on the 14th floor.) Duh!
Then we see the closeup of the phone.
The labels on the phone are placed ABOVE their respective red indicator lights. Only one of the red lights is lit up and the label directly above it clearly reads "FILE RM 16th FL". (sorry MIKEY and TTFAN)
Vincent is clearly NOT on the 16th floor. (sorry TTFAN... not sure how you came up with that one)
Annie is NOT on the 15th floor. (again, sorry TTFAN... see Annie's dialog above where she says out loud exactly what floor she's on.)
And finally, the label in question does NOT incicate any phone line number or room 'number' whatsoever. (sorry MATT, maybe try the pause button and let the image sink in.)
Heh.
Soooo, no slip-up here... that is, if you don't count the viewers.
