Democratic National Convention / CNN - Don Mischer Curses Live on Cnn After John Kerry Speech
This is sort of a double slip-up, both significant in their own way.
After the end of John Kerry's DNC speech, after he joins in with John Edwards and their respective wives, the balloons are supposed to drop onto the convention floor.
As in the 1980 DNC, after Jimmy Carter's speech, and now again in 2004, after John Kerry's speech, the balloons SLOWLY drop to the floor over a period of 30 minutes instead of their intended all-out balloon release over a couple of minutes. In fact, earlier in the day, CNN highlighted this potential problem and referred to it as a bad omen for Jimmy Carter and how the DNC was going to take precautions so that the same thing wouldn't happen again.
Well, it did. But, taking this a step further, for some odd reason, CNN turns up the mic on DNC convention director Don Mischer and broadcasts his colorful direction worldwide via CNN and CNN Interational.
Here is a transcript of the event, courtesy of Matt Drudge, as I didn't record the convention but did watch it live on CNN.
'Go balloons, go balloons! Go balloons! I don't see anything happening. Go balloons! Go balloons! Go balloons! Standby confetti. Keep coming, balloons. More balloons. Bring it- balloons, balloons, balloons! We want balloons, tons of them. Bring them down. Let them all come. No confetti. No confetti yet.
'No confetti. All right, go balloons, go balloons. We need more balloons. All balloons! All balloons! Keep going! Come on, guys, lets move it. Jesus! We need more balloons. I want all balloons to go, godd----t. Go confetti. Go confetti. More confetti. I want more balloons. What's happening to the balloons? We need more balloons.
'We need all of them coming down. Go balloons- balloons? What's happening balloons? There's not enough coming down! All balloons, what the hell! There's nothing falling! What the f--k are you guys doing up there? We want more balloons coming down, more balloons. More balloons. More balloons'...
