In The "I didn't do it" episode when it shows snake holding apu hostage, look where apu's hand hits on the desk. There isn't any type of a button to set the alarm off.
Time for the real explanation. Watch carefully or even put it in slow motion, Apu's thumb goes behind the counter where I'm sure the button is located. This
"slip-up" should be removed.
