After Alan Shepard returns from his spaceflight, he and his wife meet President and Mrs. Kennedy. The movie combines actual newsreel footage of this meeting with new footage with cast members to look like newsreel footage. When Kennedy is facing the audience (actual newsreel footage) the actual Scott Carpenter is behind him. When the camera switches to the actors (almost 180 degrees around) we see part of the back of an actor playing Kennedy shaking actor Scott Glen's(Alan Shepard)hand. Behind Scott Glenn is the actor playing Scott Carpenter, so he would be on both

sides of the stage.
