Clerks - Darkness

When dante and randell go to the funeral they say the funural is at four. When they leave the store its bright out.When they drive its light out. When they drive home its still light out.When they finally return to the store(when J farts on randell) its pitch black. Now where is this funural located? I have to watch the movie again but I think they say something like they returned to the store when the old man died. How could they have been in two places at once?

juno13 writes:: In Jersey, depending on what time of year it is, it can be full dark by 7. I know, I lived there. Besides, no one ever said the funeral home was right there in town! & when the coroner arrives & makes an approx. determination of the old man's time of death, she never says it was while they were in the store. No one knew what time he died, & that was the point (& the humor of the situation--instead of properly running the Quick Stop & noticing when his elderly customer never emerged from the restroom, Dante was out playing hockey & going to wakes, leaving the store locked & dark; even the coroner says "What kind of convenience store are you running here?!"). She never says exactly when he died, only that it was 3 or 4 hours before his body was found (prob. around 11 or so, when Caitlyn arrived & went in the bathroom to freshen up). So there. It's not a matter of Randal & Dante being in 2 places at once--we don't even know where they were at when the old man died, period. & that's the joke. Hence the locked shutters on the windows - they could shoot scenes that were supposed to be during the day without people saying "hey, it's supposed to be daytime and it's dark outside".; 15 of 6576 found this helpful. maynard writes:: It shouldn't have been dark because when they found the man in the bathroom the officer asked them what time did Dante let him go...they said that the hockey game was at 2 and they got back to the store at 4:00 from the wake, before Katelyn (spelling ??) came to see Dante. 2yyib writes:: Hey, I didn't know about the whole shooting after hours thing, but I think that's pretty neat. As for it changing from light to dark so quickly, I've lived in Jersey all my life and I've been to the Quick Stop (it's a lot tinier in real life) and I can tell you that it is in the middle of nowhere. To get to the funeral then they must have driven at least one or two towns over, which could take at least a half hour in Jersey traffic. meggybabiee writes:: Actually.. the quick stop is in Leonardo. Which is very small town not far from the shore. I know, cause I'm from Jersey and I've been there. The quick stop looks exactly the same today except I different name I think. Instead of a video store, I think its a dog training school. My memory is kinda fuzzy, but its not that far from Red Bank.
