Why are Evelyn's nails long and painted red all the way through the film? Nurses need to have short, unpolished nails and in the 1940's this would have been stricter than today I imagine.
That isn't necessarily true. I am a nurse and it is recommended that we keep our nails short, but it is not required. The only time it is an issue is when it interferes with care or the color is too flashy or inappropriate. I don't believe this would have really been an issue for a nurse at that time, especially when women were still "too delicate" to serve as anything else.
