Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone/Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone - Where's the Snitch?
Oliver Wood has already finished explaining to Harry the basics of Quidditch and showing him the Quaffle, Bludger and Snitch. After he is done explaining about the Snitch, it flies around and Harry follows it with his eyes but Oliver looks in the opposite direction (to his left, our right). It's pretty funny.

Of Course!! Thats why Harry is the seeker and Wood ISN'T.. Wood is a keeper and looks for the big ball (Quaffle) and isn't used to following the Snitch. Since Harry has such good eyesight (glasses and all) and can fly well, he was chosen to search for the tiny Snitch.. that is why he could follow (also the fact that it was originally in his own hand) and wood had to look around at first

This isn't a slip up.. This is to show that Wood's eyes are not fast enough to follow the Snitch. The shot shows both guys (Harry & Oliver Wood) so that the viewer can see that Harry can see the Snitch clearly while it is moving because his eyes are fast enough but Wood's aren't. (That would also explain why Wood's not a Seeker! ;-) *hehe*)

HELLO!!!!!!!!!!!!!! when oliver released the snitch and harry follows it with his eyes and oliver is looking in the other direction its because oliver doesn't have that kind of "gift" to keep his eye on the snitch. harry got that "gift" from his father. so therefore, oliver can't see the snitch but harry can because he is the youngest (and maybe the best) seeker hogwarts has had in over a century!!!!!!!!!! DUH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

He says himself that the Snitch is "Wicked fast and damn near impossible to see." Not having the eyes of a Seeker, I guess he couldn't see it at the time.

When Wood is looking for the snitch and Harry is following it perfectly, it shows that Harry is perfect for the Seeker position because Wood isn't talented enough for the position because he can't see the snitch, HINT HINT: the snitch is almost impossible to see!!!

Since Wood is a keeper and not a seeker, I always beleived that he did not know where the snitch went. That they had him look confused and in the wrong direction to show that Harry really did have the Seeker abilities. That is why Harry looks directly at it and leaves Wood confused and searching for it. I thought it really would emphansize Harrys abilities. This is just my suggestion it could possibly be what you said ,too.

It's not a slip up. Oliver can't see the snitch so he isn't able to follow it like Harry can.

That was the point. Harry was able to follow it easily. It was stated that it is very hard to even see it let alone follow it so you can catch it.

Maybe Wood lost sight of the snitch. It is pretty easy to loose it.

Wood is supposed to look the wrong way. When the Snitch is released, Harry manages to keep his eyes on it, and follow it, while Wood loses sight of it, and looks around for it.

I agree with everyone that has posted comments so far... Harry had the gift to see the Snitch, BUT just a bit to think about... who went and got the Snitch once it was released? I didn't see any broomsticks around for Harry to jump on and get it. :) i know the scene changed so there is no way to say how they got it or didn't get it so i wouldn't call it a slipup, just fun to think about!

I would have to say you are all wrong. The way they shot that scene is they told the boys to look around in the air like they were watching the snitch. They later added it in with a computer. If the two were looking in opposite directions, where would they draw the snitch? Of course they'd put it in front of Harry.
