Paint Your Wagon - Power-of-Attorney
At the first of the movie where the miner's are bidding on Elizabeth, Ben doubles the highest bid of four hundred dollars to win the auction and Elizabeth. Ben then passes out and falls into the mud and partner tries to withdraw Ben's bid but, is told he can't because he has no Power-of-Attorney to speak for or act in behalf of Ben. Two scenes later at the wedding Ben is too drunk to answer & Elizabeth hesitates at saying "I DO". Partner speaks for both of them and no one mentions he can't do that without a Power-of-Attornney.

Good one. Maybe Ben gave him power-of-attorney between the auction and the wedding, but you would assume that if he was too drunk to think at both of those points, he would be in between. Elizabeth certainly wouldn't have.
