Good Times - Money Matters
Notice in the second part of the two-part story where it is J.J.'s 18th birthday and he is in jail for a crime he did not commit. Notice that the Evans family asks the police officer how much money it would take to get J.J. out of jail and the officer replies "$5000 dollars" but when it cuts to the scene where James and Florida Evans are at the water dispenser James says "How are we gonna raise $500 dollars".

Bob writes:
The $500.00 was a reference to the 10% they would have to pay a bail bondsman. A person unable to afford bail uses a bail bondsman by paying him or her 10% of the total bail. The bail bondsman puts up the total amount of bail and will come looking for you if you should miss your court date. He or she keeps the 10% as their fee. Bob
