Okay, first of all I think these people should have researched the Amish people (just a little!) before they made an entire movie about them. I recently visited Pennsylvania and learned a great deal about the Amish. I know there are many instances in this movie where ideas and beliefs are not true to real Amish, but I picked out two..just to save time.
First of all, Amish children have faceless dolls. In the movie, you can clearly see children playing with dolls with faces. The Amish believe an image of a person could be worshipped as a god (a reason why they don't have photographs in their homes). The other scene that defies the Amish is when the people are having a nice jambouree, and there is music playing. Nothing wrong about that, right? WRONG! Real Amish people don't listen to any music nor play instruments! The creators of this movie obviously had a lack of Amish people knowledge...
