Shawshank Redemption, The - How Exactly Does That Work Out?
We are lead to belive that in the end of the flick Andy is wearing one of Sam Norton's suits. Andy is about a foot taller than the warden, so the suit wouldn't have fit as perfectly as it did.
Actually, the suit that Andy is wearing when he leaves is HIS suit, not the warden's. How would he get it to his cell, anyway? He took the warden's SHOES, not his SUIT!
Actually if you look closely when Andy's in the bank (I think it's when he's walking in) they do a close up of him and you can see the pants are too short. And when he's sitting at the desk withdrawing the money you can see the sleeves are on the short side too. Although the suit's not as small as it would bein real life, it's a effort.
The person above me is wrong. He takes both the shoes AND the suit. He puts the suit on UNDER his prison clothes. Then, while in the prison cell, he takes off his prison clothes to reveal the suit under them. Then, (this is not shown, but it's obvious) he takes off the suit, puts it into the bag along with the shoes, and put his prison suit back on.
The business suit DOES belong to Warden Norton. When Norton is leaving for the evening, he instructs andy to shine his shoes to a "high mirror shine" and to get his suits down to laundry. I believe Norton even made a comment about the amount of starch that laundry used.
In the recap of Andy's escape, you see him shining Norton's shoes and then thumbing through his business suits, obviously picking out his favorite one.
the suit is the wardens. when they show a re-cap of how andy escaped you see he sits in his cell and the lights go out. its then that he begins to unbutton his inmate clothes and reveals a hint of the suit underneath. andy wouldnt have access to his own suit anyways. i believe personal belongings are locked away somewhere when you are sent to prison.
