I haven't seen the movie in a while, so I'm not sure exactly what you are pointing out, but Moria is a dwarf mining colony, and they'd have to have light somewhere, why can't it be a hanging light just like real mining colonies.

Not only are there probably Dwarf lights in Moria, but since the giant hall was done mostly with computer, anything near the high ceiling would have to be purposely drawn in anyway.

In reply to Sway999, how can you say that if you haven't seen the movie? Anyway, you don't see the "light" when Gandalf first turns on his stick, its later in Moria.I've seen the movie 8 times, so I should know. Sorry.

Maybe, just maybe, there is a slight chance that they read the book *gasp* no silly me that couldn't have happened. All she said was that it was a mining community. which it was, and said that they could have had light after all tolkein based the objects in lotr on real things that were around at the time lotr was set...
I've also seen the movie 8 times
