Not true. When Alan drops the phone it hangs up. You hear it beep as it hits the boat. Giving Ellie an free line to call back. I know this movie better than any other and I guarantee this.
i dont remember exactly what happened as to whether the phone turned off or not but if one person hangs up the phone disconnects and you can get a call through from there. ive dont this before.
