Lord of The Rings: Fellowship of The Ring - Blue to Orange
Aragorn battle axes off the head of the killer orc guy who has been shooting Boromir. The scene is shot in a bluish colour. But immediately after he kills the Orc captain, he turns to help Boromir and the entire colour scheme changes to this orange-greenish mesh. It's actually very obvious!!!
That's not a mistake, that's called film aesthetics. The director or producers obviously wanted to use a visual cue to mark the scene transition from the battle scene to the post-battle "death of Boromir" scene so they changed the color filter from the brighter, more intense blue of the battle, to the more subdued (i.e. melancholy) orange tint. Again it's not a mistake, its an artistic special effect.
This is not right. I guess the theatre you saw it at had issues with their projection equipment or something. There is no colour change short of the background. The only scenes in the FOTR shot with 'color filters' might have been Rivendell and Lothlorien -- possibly coloured yellow-white (or even blue for lothlorien) a bit to give them a supernatural feel. There is a slight change, but this is only due to the background. In the shot where Aragorn chops off the orc's head (with a SWORD, not a BATTLE AXE), there are big green trees in the background, with light bluish light filtering through from the sky. The next shot has a background of reddish-brown trees with less foliage, so the colours seem to change (very slightly, mind you) from green-blue to red-orange-green. Nothing else to it.
