Go to the scene where Luke is in the ambulance, and it gets into the stairway. Now, Jake will go and see if Luke is still inside it. Look at his mouth. It's quite bloody, isn't it? Later on, when he enters the furnace/morgue, his mouth is totally clean! Not even a sign of blood, so you can't say that he just wiped it off!
