Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone/Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone - Hanging or Floating Candles?

In the beginning as the First Years enter the hall, there are floating candles. On the right you can see that there is this string that holds up the candles. It's pretty funny

writes:: I have an inquiry, people are saying that the candles are hung by string. Well, how? If they hung it by normal string wouldn't the candles burn the string, that is what is puzzling me, also wouldnt they just go ahead and add the candles with conputers. I mean it would be alot easier to just put how ever many candles that you want, instead of having to hide every string, also this method would be alot neater, I think that what you are seeing as a string is where the texture of the ceiling is off cue. If anyone can answer my questions post your theory, also i have no idea so i cannot say they did or did not hang them, I am saying this so you dont think I am just trying to push your theory down.But if you know how they hung them or if they animated them, please post it and where you got the information from, thanks.; 15 of 6576 found this helpful. Harry Potter writes:: This is stupid because the candles can't have been hung by string because they are bobbing up and down. For those of you who say that there might of been people above pulling the string up and down there could'nt be because if you see in the special feature,when the great hall is being made there is no top. Also some of the filming was done in Oxford University and people could,nt build scaffolding above because it would damage the University and there were strict rules about what the crew could and could'nt do when filming.; 15 of 6576 found this helpful.
