Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone/Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone - Which Way Is Left?
When the kids are learning to fly their brooms, the teacher says to stand to the left of their brooms, but everyone stands to the right. It's not to hard to see, I caught it right away!

In the movie the characters stand on their left of the broom...to the audience it looks like it is their right where in actual fact it isn't. This is not a slip up.

If you are watching someone, your left is their right and vice-versa!

Actually, they have it correct in the movie. If they stand so that the brooms go into their right hands when they say "up!", then they are on the left side of the brooms.

They did stand on the left side of their broomsticks. I think their apparent ignorance of left and right is caused by the fact that they are all standing side by side, which causes them to appear to go to the right side of SOMEONE ELSE'S broomstick. But a girl in the right side of the screen shows that they did this right.

actually, if you look again you'll notice that they ARE standing to the left of their brooms. that's why harry catches it w/ his right hand. because he is standing at it's left side.

Ok, I just wanted to say that it is NOT a slip-up. When you stand on the left of something, it looks like this: .| and when you stand on the right of something, it looks like this: |. therefor, if you are on the left, your right arm should be above it if you hold it out! (my brother pointed this out to me!)

They DO stand on the left side of the broom. Because when they say UP the broom jumps up into their RIGHT hand. It would only do that if they were standing to the left of it!
