Cast Away - Why was a domestic package on a flight overseas?
On the fatal flight that led to Tom Hanks and the packages washing up on the island this has always bothered me... He takes the one package with him on the raft at the end to deliver in the US. Wasn't the flight he was on to Hong Kong or South America or somewhere like that?? Why were domestic packages being sent out of the country when he flew FROM the US?

He wasn't delievering the package where it was going he returned it to the sender, not to who it was being sent to.

He wasn't delivering the package. The package was SENT from the Texas ranch. Chuck (Noland) was just returning it to the sender.

The package was going to Russia. The woman at the end of the movie had a husband in Russia who was having an affair. If you look at the gate to her ranch at the end, his name has been removed.

Actually, I think he is just returning the package to its sender. At the beginning of the movie you see this woman send a package to Russia with those same wings on it. Now he is returning to where the movie began. She was likely sending another overseas package and he was returning it to her.

The package was being sent from the United States to a foreign location. The package was decorated and sent from where he returned it.
