Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone/Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone - Whoops! Wrong Door
In the First Harry Potter Movie, right after Harry, Ron, and Hermonie first see Fluffy, the three headed dog, as they walk up the stairs talking about what Fluffy is guarding, Hermonie talking and turns away to the left of the stair to what is supposedly the her room. However, this contradicts what Percy said at the beginning of the movie, that the boy's dormitories are up the stairs and to the left, girls the same but to the right. Hermonie of all people should know what room is hers!

Actually, if going/looking at it from the top of the spiral stairs, Hermonie went though the correct door. Go watch the movie and pay more attention to that scene man.

I noticed that too! It's not because the staircases change either..they only change in the main part of the building, didn't you guys ever notice that? No matter how you look at it, Hermione does go to the left instead of to the right. You'd think the director would notice that!

I won't be quite as harsh as others, and I also sort of disagree with most of them. The staircases do move, but those are the large wooden staircases that are attached to each other by WOOD. This is a stone staircase built straight into the castle wall. I guess it could be possible, but I doubt that is the case. Perhaps there was another stone staircase descending to were Percy stood when he gave those instructions on the other side of the landing with the two doors. Looking up from the opposite side, the door she entered WOULD be to the right. I also don't think it has anything to do with camera angles. Just my opinion.

I think it is a good slip-up. When Percy said the stairs move, he was only talking about the ones in that big tall place with like 100 staircases. I noticed it and I thought it was one too, they probably just flipped the shot around if something messes it up (for example: If Hermione is on the left but there is a complication, then flipping the shot could reverse the effects). It's done a lot, it explains why headsets and earphones appear to flip on people's faces, and why people switch places. Nice eyes.

Did anyone stop to think that maybe the boys got a bit lost and went up the wrong stairs? I always thought the boys dorm was at the top of a different staircase to the girl's dorm. That's my thoery anyway.

Ya'll are all wrong. You see, when Percy explains all that "boys on the left, girls on the right...", which, it IS that way, Hermione does that. If you look at it at HER angle, she's going in the RIGHT door. Or maybe Percy meant that the girls go up the right flight of stairs but he was facing the opposite direction as the group, so he may of gotten a lil confused, even if he is Prefect.

When Percy was describing the rooms, he was going DOWN the stairs. Later on, they were going UP the stairs. The directions would have switched around.

Hang on....oh, I get it! They're right! You see, Hermione went up the wrong staircase! When Percy was explaining all of this when they first arrived at Hogwarts, he said that the staircase on OUR LEFT (like, right when you walk in the common room) is the boys', and the one on OUR RIGHT is for the girls. And when Harry, Ron, and Hermione come back from seeing Fluffy, they go up the staircase on OUR LEFT (which, as we've already established, belongs to the boys) and Hermione goes in! See? It all makes sense! So, technically, this Slipup should have been named "Whoops! Wrong Staircase!"

Actually, If you look when Percy says where the girls' dormitory is, the fire from the fire place is making that wall glow, hence the fireplace being on the side with the boys' dormitory. Later after the Fluffy scene, if you watch, the door that Hermione goes into is along the wall with the glow from the fire, proving that she went to the correct dorm. Also, if my memory serves me correctly, there is only ONE staircase in the movie for both dorms instead of sepperate ones like in the book.

Actually, when the boys continue to walk up the stairs, you can see a balcony type thing overlooking the common room. Also, it is a spiral staircase, so when you get to the balcony thing, you can see that what Percy said was correct.
