Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire - Did He Eat It?
On page 28, it says that Harry ate his grapefruit without complaint, but then next paragraph, it says that Dudley finished his grapefruit and was eyeing Harry's. Did Harry have more than one grapefruit, or did he spit it back up because it was gross?

It dosn't say Dudley ate Harry's slice it says he eyed Harry's slice and stoled his dad's piece. No Slipup

yes he must likely ate it. His cousin was just looking at his leftovers (The part that you don not eat).

Actually Dudley ate Mr. Dursley's grapefruit- not Harry's.

Now....it was not Harry's grapefruit he was eyeing, it was Uncle Dursley's. After Uncle Dursley got up to get the mail, Dudley grabbed his grapefruit.

In my book, it says "Finished his dad's grapefruit and was eyeing HARRY" not Harry's grapefruit. He was eyeing Harry because he was wondering why he was so happy, because Harry was going up to eat his birthday cakes.

He could have eaten only part of it and Dudley was eyeing the rest of the grapefruit. Possibly he didn't like grapefruit but being hungry he ate some anyway but couldn't eat much of it due to dislike. (sorry for the drama)

ALL of you are wrong! In my book it says "...looking forward to a real breakfast when he got back upstairs, he ate his grapefruit without complaint." Then, "..Dudley, who had already finished his own grapefruit quarter, eyeing Harry's with a very sour look in his piggy eyes." Then Dudley steals Uncle Vernons. So this Slipup is correct.

It never says that Harry actually finished his grapefruit, now did it? Nope, in fact, Dudley could've just been eyeing the grapefruit as it got eaten.

Actually, it says, '...Harry still had two of the cakes left...and looking forward to a real breakfast, STARTED eating his grapefruit without complaint.' Dudley was eyeingthe REST of Harry's grapefruit that Harry had only STARTED to eat.

It's real: (and I have the book at the computer and am quoting directly.) Harry still had two of them left, and so, looking forward to a real breakfast when he got back upstairs, he ate his grapefruit without complaint. Uncle Vernon laid aside his paper with a deep sniff of disapproval and looked down at his own grapefruit quarter. "Is this it?" he said grumpily to Aunt Petunia Aunt Petunia gave him a severe look, and then nodded pointedly at Dudley, who had already finished his own grapefruit quarter and was eyeing ***HARRY'S*** with a very sour look in his piggy little eyes. LATER, he eats Uncle Vernon's grapefruit. (Piggy, isn't he!)

Aussie book its on pg 31 and it says: Harry still had two of them left, and so, looking forward to a real breakfast when he got back upstairs, he **STARTED** eating his grapefruit without complaint. ..... Aunt Petunia gave him (Vernon) a severe look, and then nodded pointedly at Dudley, who had already finished and was eyeing Harry's with a very sour look in his eyes. So it actually never says that Harry finished his grapefruit so it is not a slip up.

Dudley probably reached down Harry's throat and pulled the Grapefruit from his stomach then set it on the table and stared at it.

It depends on which edition of the book you have - it was probably corrected in later editions
