Gomer Pyle's cousin, Goober Pyle, is first introduced in episode #123, The Fun Girls (incidentally, the only episode to show both Goober and Gomer), but, for some unknown reason, in episode #150, TV or Not TV, Andy introduces him as Goober "Beasley?"

Cousins don't necessarily have to have the same last name. In fact the only way two cousins will have the same last name is if their fathers are brothers.

Actually, Goober's name is Goober Beasley Pyle, according to the book 'Inside Mayberry'...also, George Lindsey (Goober) originally read for the part of Gomer.

well Shawn, that is not exactly true, my cousin has the same last name as me but my father and her mother are siblings. It's because my aunt got divorced and went back to her maiden name.
