In the scene were they show the Confederate army camp, if you look closely when they're zooming in to the tent, you will see a corner of the American flag. You can see stars in rows, such as the modern American flag. But why would a Confederate camp have an American flag? Wouldn't they have a Confederate flag?
The problem is the movie 'The Patriot' starring Mel Gibson takes place during the REVOLUTIONARY WAR not the CIVIL WAR. So there wouldn't be any Confederate Flag. However, the stars on the American Flag should have been in a circle rather than horizontal lines. The Confederate Battle flag also was not the Stars and Bars you see today but one of broad horizontal stripes of red, white and blue.
The American flag should not even be in the movie in the first place. The American Revolution was in 1776. The first American flag was not created until June 14, 1777 by the Continental Congress.
Logan, the Stars and Bars was the one that had the Broad Stripes (For those who don't know what the stars and bars looks like or even is, it's a flag used by the Confederates during the war, it could easily be mistaken for a Federal Flag) The "Southern Cross" that most people think of when they think of the Confederates was called the "ANV" battle flag. ANV stands for "Army of Northern Virginia" the confederates most famous Army
"The American flag should not even be in the movie in the first place. The American Revolution was in 1776. The first American flag was not created until June 14, 1777 by the Continental Congress."
This is only partly true. The American Revolution was involved during 1776 but that was not the year that it started, or ended. The American Revolution began in the year 1775 and lasted till 1783. The American flag, which was created on June 14, 1777 would have been in the movie, at least in the parts which took place in in the later parts of the war.
