When Optimus Prime is dying and he passes the matrix of leadership to Ultra Magnus. If you watch closely you'll see that Magnus actually puts the matrix inside him twice.
Actually, if you look closely, you'll see he actually puts it on a stand first and then he puts it in. A lot of people call this a slipup, but you have to look closely.
Okay, let's try this again. It IS a slip up. If you'll look closely the Matrix slides in (apparently on this stand you speak of) but then Magnus takes it back out and puts it right back in. Maybe it was uncomfortable and he had to adjust it? Lol.
