In the movie when Violet goes to the kitchen of the club to get her tape back from Kevin he starts singing one of her songs. Later in the movie you see her on the roof and she is working on that song, but it isn't until she sees the guy across the street break dancing in his apartment that she changes the song to the way that Kevin was already singing it earlier.
