In the part where all the ladies are trying to save Gillian, you'll notice that the walls behind one of the aunts, panels of the wall slam back and forth. They are the same color as the wall.
I thought the same thing when I saw it but it is a very old house and houses of that time had lots of secret doors and passageways. I think it is just a hidden door.
