Negotiator, The - Wrongly Folded Chicago City Flag
During the funeral for Samuel L. Jackson's partner, they fold the city of Chicago's flag into triangles. The only flag that you can fold in triangles is the American Flag. All others get folded into rectangles.
The flag you described is the Chicago city flag - white stripe, blue stripe, white middle with 4 red 6 pointed stars, blue stripe, white stripe. You can see it at http://snipurl.com/hcqh, and the explanation of the design is at http://snipurl.com/hcqi. Backdraft was set in Chicago, so they would also use the Chicago city flag. The city flag is often draped under the american flag or carried with the casket, it's just a city of Chicago tradition. As a firefighter, I can attest to this personally.
ok for starters i don't think it was an american flag in fact i belive it was a civil service flag ( I MAY BE WRONG ) there are to forms of the civil service flag the fire fighters and the policemans flag there are almost identical in the movie backdraft they used a flag that was looked like this
___________
___________
____***____
___________
the top and bottom sections were blue the middle portion was white and it had RED STARS the one from the negotiator was SIMILAR ( I THINK ) as i said at the beggining of this message ( I MAY BE WRONG )
it had one more or one less star am not sure i have seen the movie plenty of times thanx
PSB
Are you sure that isn't an American flag? I've seen the movie plenty of times, and I could have sworn it was, but then again, I, for once, may be wrong :o)
Actually, it was an American flag. At all police or military funerals, they fold an American flag, never a state flag. Not to mention I watched that movie every day for a month
