At the beginning of the movie, one of the orphans whines to Ms. Hadikin that they don't want to get up because 'its in the middle of the night'. But during the song where they're cleaning, they go out onto the balcony and its sunny as if it were noon. Plus, the streets are bustling as Mr. Bundles come to pick up the laundry, although its supposed to be the wee hours of the morning.
The point is they had to stay up all night to get the place clean! But obviously they couldn't make all the in real time otherwise that scene alone would have been several hours long!
The slip-up to me is that while the girls are dancing outside it looks like its around noon with all that sun... but, when Ms. Hannigan is talking to Mr. Bundles... its very cloudy, like an overcast, or earlier in the morning.
Just a thought ... maybe to the girls, it was the "middle of the night", but perhaps it was closer to sunrise. Also, in the song and dance number right after that, it shows a scene where they were washing dishes. So, it was already after breakfast time, perhaps. The clouds could have rolled in the morning after it had been sunny.
