When Danielle is climbing the tree to find the palace if you look up through the trees, in one scene it looks about mid-day then in the next scene it looks like night time. This pattern repeats, then when it shows a the ground scene it looks cloudy.
It changed to nighttime to show a lapse in time. They had been with the gypsies several hours. Also, the reason why it looked cloudy was because they were in a forest. The trees make it darker and there is less available light.
