When Doc and Marty travel to the alternate 1985 and look at the paper from 1973 announcing George McFly's murder, look very carefully at the words below his picture. It says 'local author murdered.' According to Lorraine, George published his first novel in 1985, so he wouldn't have been an author in the alternate 1985.
The only thing I can come up with is that there is now also an alternate 1973. Everything from 1955 on is now different, in which case George could have become an author sooner. However, this is unlikely because he would be the loser George, and not the confident George that wrote the novel.
Just because someone hasn't published a NOVEL yet doesn't mean they aren't an author. Perhaps he only published short works of fiction in magazines? No novel doesn't mean no author.
George wouldn't be the loser George because he punched Biff. It could also be possible that before 1973A he published a book, but in the real world he didn't get one published till 1985.
We'll actually when old Biff from 2015 gave the sports almanac to his young self in 1955, young Biff went to the enchantment under the sea dance that same night and still got nailed by George McFly, so that would mean that he wouldn't be the nerdie george, he turned to be the brave George, and since it was an alternate 1973 or whenever it was that he was murdered. He could have published a novel earlier than 1985, since the time line changed, or just cause you don't have a novel doesn't mean you are not an author.
No he is still confident george. He hit Biff still,remeber? But when Biff got rich he still wanted Loraine that and revenge for the one hit Wonder that knocked him out was the basis for killing George. The confident George still published his novel in 1985 the wishy washy george never published.
However it is not only safe to say but fairly a certainty that he wrote other things than that novel.Ask any writer you do not often get a novel published on your first try without writing short stories or something.
However, It is front page news, so I think it is interesting to note the slow newsdays Hill Valley seems to have. The murder may warrant front page expsure but Local Scientist commited? or Commended either? Hmmmm
