After the parents shrink, the kids go a little crazy. The two boys make a volcano with hot dog people. After about a few seconds, the volcano explodes. Right at the beginning of that scene, you can see a hand popping the top of the volcano so all the chili comes out! Explosion or not?
I've seen this movie a couple times, and I don't think this is a slip-up. The boy's hand is shown because he purposely popped the balloon full of chili so it would fall down the side of the mountain. It was not meant to explode on its own.
I think this person is talking about the scene right before the scene where the boy pops the balloon. It looks like someone put the balloon there, though. They didn't pop it. Right after that, the boy popped it. You have to watch it carefully!
