Contact - Doesn't She Know Relativity

When Ellie is talking to Congress right near the end, she explains the time differences as the effects of General Relativity. However, the differences between time while traveling at the speed of light is the Special Theory of Relativity. Einstein's theory of General Relativity explains how matter curves space, and space curves the motions of matter. She's an MIT grad, for crying out loud.

Carl Sagan and his wife personally supervised much of the making of the movie and their number one concern towards the directors and producers was that they keep everything as scientifically accurate as possible.
