Jurassic Park III - If It's Dark Over Here...
When Alan and the family are down the river at night, when it's raining like crazy, he uses the satellite phone to call Elly. It's really dark where Alan is calling. Well, where Elly is, it's during the day, and it's very bright. Regardless of where Elly is in the US (except possibly Alaska and Hawaii, although judging by her home, I doubt it), there are no dramatic time differences between where Alan is (near Costa Rica) and where she is.

I thought of this too, so I looked at a map. Costa Rica is actually due south of Florida and much of the eastern U.S. so it is in our Eastern Time Zone. Elly could be in California and be 3 hours behind them on Pacific Time. It is possible to have a sunset in Costa Rica before the U.S. west coast would see it.

Ellie was in Washington D.C., in that scene, it is early morning, (see Charley in pajama's, her husband is going to work, and Barney is on TV), so it must have been early morning where Grant was, if Costa Rica is in the Eastern time zone, then this is probably a slip-up,

Actually, the island is about 250 miles southwest, or west, of Costa Rica. It says in the beginning of the movie.

Did you not notice that there was a storm on the island? When it's storming that hard, it usually looks dark. If you recall during the first Jurassic Park movie, it was a pleasant, sunny day, then there was a storm, where the T-Rex attacked everyone, eating Ed Regis, injuring Ian Malcolm, and driving Alan and the kids into the park. It would be perfectly natural for the same thing to happen again, two movies later.

It was a really hard rainstorm, it would be dark regardless of the time. I've seen it get pitch black during a really bad rain like that one.
