When Tom Hanks buries the pilots on the island they show a closeup of Tom Hanks. On the right side of the screen you can see a shovel in the background. I wonder where that came from?!
I think the shovel isn't really a shovel. if you think about it, the *shovel* could have most likely have been the oar from his raft, but you never know, they could have really messed up
The scene where Tom Hanks is burying the pilot does not show a shovel in the background. I am watching the movie as I type and notice that it is an oar that is sticking out of the sand.
It is a oar. Look at the jagged end. The only mistake I see, that it would be impossible, to scoop sand into a neat pile with a oar. You would have to scatter it around the hole. You can tell by the shape of the end, in the sand, that it is a broken oar.
