In the movie in various scenes, you can clearly see mountains in the background. Little problem there. This movie takes place in Norfolk, VA, an entirely flat area. It's accurate in the fact that Norfolk does have a naval base, but the beach looks nothing like that. They were too lazy to tape on location or even on a naval base like San Diego.
The mountains you see in the background are actually in Benicia CA. The ships you see when they're working on the Stingray and then when leave port are part of the Ship Graveyard there between Martinez and Benicia in the Suisun Bay. You can see them from the Martinez-Benicia Bridge.
