Star Wars Episode 6: Return of the Jedi - Ewoks Speak English
In all 3 versions of the movie when C-3PO first talks to the Ewoks the Camera switches to a shot of 2 Ewoks and One says: "Yes that's wise", and the other says "Ya to be sure".
I AGREE WITH KAREN. HE DOES SAY "THAT GUY'S WISE" I'VE NOTICED THIS BECAUSE I'VE HEARD THAT EWOKESE WAS SUPPOSED TO BE AN ACTUAL DIALECT SPOKEN SOMEWHERE AND ENGLISH IS CLEARLY SPOKEN THERE. (ewokese isn't the name of the language obviously, but it is patterned after a real language)
I'm pretty sure during the scene when Leia meets the Ewok and feeds him that great looking food he says "Yo Mama" after being shot at by the Stormtroopers version of the Hells Angels. This wouldn't surprise me since Lucas has momentary lapses of reason. See Jar-Jar Binks.
Good Call! At the point where they think C-3PO is a god, wait until C-3PO says his first words in Ewokese. Call me crazy, but it sounds exactly like one of the Ewoks says "Martin Short."
I've listened to the 2nd Ewok many times trying to figure out what was said. The 1st said, "That guy's wise." The 2nd then said, "Yeah, more than me short," to confirm the 1st's comment.
I also watched a documentary (I can't remember which) that confirmed this.
Well, seeing as Endor must have been under Imperial control for a long time (long enough to build the deathstar and whatnot) I'm sure the ewoks would have picked up a little English from whatever Imperials were in the forest.. Doesn't seem too unlikely.
